New Year’s Wiggle Break Poem/Song

Sing this poem to the tune “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.”

This is a great back-from-vacation WIGGLE BREAK activity!

Fill in the blanks with fun actions such as, clapping, jumping, twirling and stomping.

The ideas are endless.

Turkey Poem

Some poems automatically inspire you to recite them with emotion.  Expression comes naturally as the reader warns the turkey in this poem.

Try reading this poem with different emotions. Try reading it with urgency, with a sad/tearful voice, or in a pleading whisper. It is sure to get you and your students laughing.

Scarecrow Poem

My favorite kinds of poems are “Finger Plays.” This poem is a fun one to add hand motions to!  In class we have been reciting and acting out this poem each day.

Recently a student told me that his favorite thing in his browsing box is his poetry notebook. "Mine too," I whispered back," with a wink.
